Jerome Nikolai Warren is a German-American political economist teaching and researching cooperative enterprise at the University of Eastern Finland’s Business School and researching bioeconomy and circular economy at the University of Cologne’s Seminar for Cooperative Studies. His research is at the intersection of democracy, cooperation, sustainability, and (business) networks. He has conducted applied research on the cooperative economy of Italy, publishing on the evolution of Italian social and community cooperatives, as well as serving as editor of numerous volumes, including the Routledge Handbook of Cooperative Economics & Management and the forthcoming Global Cooperative Economics & Movements. Between 2022 and 2024, he was Chaire SFPI at the Belgian Royal Academy of Arts, Sciences and Letters, advising the Belgian sovereign wealth fund on its strategies in helping make Belgian firms more sustainable. In addition, he is the Co-founder and President of the Rudolf Rocker Institute and the German Institute for Economic Democracy.
